Morning run
One tree, two trees,
the prairie, the mist,
the softness of the sun,
stroking the wind.
My heart is pounding
and my blood speeding in me.
My legs are vibrating,
at the rhythm of my feet.
I run to feel alive,
to hold your spirit in me,
I don't resist the sorrow.
Because I can breathe you in.
This past weekend, I visited Big Bear for the first time, and I began creating that little poem in my head while running on Sunday morning. Running has always brought me comfort. I run to clear my mind and find direction; to seek what only nature and presence can give me. A moment of perfect synchronicity: for me, the purest form of love.
I feel that the more my body enters this flow state, the less resistance difficult emotions encounter, and the less pain there is, while metabolizing them. I hope to carry with me, in both body and mind, a little more wisdom. The present moment always receives me with kindness, and I hope to learn from it.
