Ache: A Poem About Chronic Pain
Pain,
a shape-shifting creature
I have felt you in the effervescence of my chest.
I have swallowed your fermented body,
leaving a bittersweet trace.
You are the ache of my womb,
indifferent to seasons,
and I hate knowing you well.
You pull my flesh, clench it,
and twist it, shaping it as you please.
You widen inside my pelvis.
Left, up, and down,
I feel you across time and beyond,
you cover everything
and leave me in a trance.
